The Warrnambool Library and Learning Centre is a reimagining of the public library.
Four times the area of the previous library and situated within the grounds of the South West TAFE, the Library and Learning Centre opened its doors to the public on October 13, 2022.
All the traditional appeal of a library has been retained and improved. There are nooks where one can read quietly and undisturbed; there are desks at which to study and write; there is a large selection of books and magazines in which to immerse yourself.
And there is the new … views to the ocean, a café, gardens, a dedicated children’s area, a reading room; a youth area, tech zone and an Agora staircase with space enough for seating or a band performance.
All of these features are contained in a stunning construction that connects the 1868 Gun and Orderly Room with a striking new three-story structure.
The Library and Learning Centre is accessed from Kepler Street and has a ramp leading to the front double doors.
Lifts provide access to the first and second floors and bookshelves are spaced to maximise accessibility.
All are welcome at the Warrnambool Library and Learning Centre.
